How to connect Google Analytics to your Showit website

Getting StartedUpdated 153 days ago

Quick answer

Create a Google Analytics 4 property, copy your Measurement ID (starting with G-), and paste it into your Showit site under Site Settings → Integrations. Publish your site and Google will start tracking visitors.

How to fix it in Showit

1. Step 1 — Sign in to Google Analytics. Go to Google Analytics and sign in with your Google account. Use the same account you use for Google Search Console if you have one set up.

2. Step 2 — Create a property. Click the Admin icon (gear icon) in the bottom left. Under the Account column, make sure you're in the right account. Then click Create → Property.

3. Step 3 — Enter your property details. Give your property a name — usually your business or website name. Select your reporting time zone and currency. Click Next and follow the prompts to describe your business.

4. Step 4 — Create a web data stream. Under Data Streams, choose Web. Enter your website URL and give the stream a name. Click Create Stream.

5. Step 5 — Copy your Measurement ID. Inside the data stream details, find your Measurement ID. It starts with G- followed by a series of characters — for example G-ABC123XYZ. Copy this ID.

6. Step 6 — Add your Measurement ID to Showit. Open your site in Showit. Go to Site Settings → Integrations. Find the Google Analytics field and paste in your Measurement ID. Save your changes.

7. Step 7 — Publish your Showit site. Click Publish in Showit so the tracking code goes live on your site.

8. Step 8 — Confirm tracking is working. Go back to Google Analytics and open the Realtime report. Visit your website in another tab — you should see yourself appear as an active visitor within a minute or two. This confirms the connection is working.

What's the issue

Without Google Analytics, you have no way of knowing how many people are visiting your site, which pages they're looking at, or where they're coming from. Once connected, you'll be able to see visitor numbers, traffic sources, popular pages, and how long people are spending on your site.

Why it matters

  • Google Analytics gives you real data about how your site is performing. You can see which pages are getting traffic and which aren't, where your visitors are coming from (Google search, social media, direct), how long people are spending on each page, and whether people are actually finding what they're looking for. This data becomes more valuable over time — the sooner you set it up, the more history you have to work with when making decisions about your site and marketing.

What good looks like

Google Analytics is connected and tracking correctly. Your Measurement ID is saved in Showit Integrations. The Realtime report shows visitors when you browse your own site. Data is appearing in your Analytics dashboard within 24–48 hours of setup.

How long this takes

Setting up Google Analytics and connecting it to Showit takes around 15 minutes.
