Note

This issue has two variants — title too short (under 40 characters) and title too long (over 63 characters). The advice below covers both. If yours is too short, focus on adding more detail. If it's too long, trim it down so nothing gets cut off in search results.

What's the issue

FastaSEO found a page where the title is either too short (under 40 characters) or too long (over 63 characters). Both cause problems — short titles don't give Google or searchers enough to go on, and long titles get cut off mid-sentence in search results.

Why it matters

  • Search engines use your page title to understand what the page covers and decide when to show it in results. A title that's too short leaves out important context and misses clicks. One that's too long gets truncated in Google — so the person searching never sees the end of it, and it can look unfinished or unprofessional. The sweet spot is 40–60 characters: long enough to be descriptive, short enough to show in full.

How long this takes

Most titles take less than a minute to update.
