What's the issue

FastaSEO found images that are severely oversized compared to how they are displayed on screen — the natural image size is many times larger than what the page actually shows. This is a very common issue on Showit sites where high-resolution photos are uploaded directly without resizing first.

Why it matters

  • Very oversized images are one of the most common causes of slow Showit sites. When a large photo — straight from a camera or at print resolution — is uploaded and displayed at a fraction of its actual size, every visitor has to download the full file regardless of how small it appears on screen. This significantly increases page load time and can frustrate visitors on slower connections. Fixing oversized images is usually the biggest single improvement you can make to your site speed.

What good looks like

Images resized to approximately twice their display size to account for retina screens. For an image displayed at 600px wide, aim for around 1200px. For background images that span the full width, 2000–2400px is usually sufficient.

How long this takes

Each image takes a few minutes to resize and re-upload.
