How to submit your Showit sitemap to Google Search Console

Getting StartedUpdated 153 days ago

Quick answer

Showit generates a sitemap automatically at yourdomain.com/siteinfo.xml. If you have a blog, you also need to submit yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml. Submit both in the Sitemaps report in Google Search Console.

How to fix it in Showit

1. Step 1 — Open Google Search Console. Sign in and select your verified property.

2. Step 2 — Go to the Sitemaps report. In the left sidebar, click Sitemaps under the Index section.

3. Step 3 — Submit your Showit pages sitemap. Showit automatically generates a sitemap of your pages when you publish your site. Your Showit sitemap URL is: yourdomain.com/siteinfo.xml — replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain. Enter this URL in the Add a new sitemap field and click Submit.

4. Step 4 — Submit your blog sitemap (if you have a blog). If your Showit site includes a blog, you need to submit a second sitemap for your blog posts. Your blog sitemap URL is: yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml — replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain. Enter this URL in the Add a new sitemap field and click Submit.

5. Step 5 — Confirm both sitemaps are showing as Success. Once submitted, both sitemaps should appear in the Sitemaps report with a Success status. If either shows an error, double-check the URL is correct and that your site is published and live.

6. Step 6 — Resubmit after major changes. Google will check your sitemap regularly once submitted. If you add a significant number of new pages or make major structural changes to your site, it's worth resubmitting to encourage Google to crawl sooner.

7. Step 7 — Run a fresh scan in FastaSEO. Once your sitemaps are submitted, run a fresh scan in FastaSEO to confirm your pages are being picked up correctly.

What's the issue

A sitemap is a file that lists all the pages on your website. When you submit it to Google Search Console, you're giving Google a complete map of your site so it can find and index your pages faster. Without a submitted sitemap, Google has to discover your pages on its own — which can take longer, especially for newer sites.

Why it matters

  • Submitting your sitemap encourages Google to check your site for new and updated pages on a regular basis. This is especially important if you publish blog content — without a submitted blog sitemap, new posts can take longer to appear in Google Search. For Showit sites in particular, submitting both the Showit pages sitemap and the blog sitemap ensures Google has a complete picture of everything on your site.

What good looks like

Both sitemaps submitted in Google Search Console with a Success status. yourdomain.com/siteinfo.xml for your Showit pages. yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml for your blog posts (if applicable).

How long this takes

Submitting your sitemaps in Google Search Console takes around five minutes.
